Going to a fitness class or the gym is a great way to work out, but it is also good to get outside for some fresh air while keeping yourself fit. Although the weather in Estonia can be unpredictable, there is a lot you can do outdoors. If you have the right clothes or equipment, even rain is not a reason to avoid going out.
Here are some outdoor activities you can take up.
Hiking
Hiking is a great way to get out in nature and enjoy the spectacular views your country has to offer. It helps improve your fitness, boosts your mood, and reduces stress and anxiety. There are many places in Estonia to explore – easy trails for beginners and more strenuous ones for experienced hikers. Orienteering
Orienteering involves finding your way from one point to another on foot, using only a map, a compass and your brains. Orienteering usually takes place in the forest, landscapes or parks. There are pre-determined courses for you to follow, and you will get instructions on where you need to go, but it is up to you to figure out how to get there. This is a way to explore the outdoors, visit new places, and have some fun, all while getting your exercise. More information about orienteering is available here.
Kayaking or canoeing
Kayaking and canoeing are two different types of water sport that involve rowing through water in small boats. Kayaking and canoeing are similar, but involve different types of boats and oars. It is a great way to strengthen muscles, especially in your torso and legs, and reduce stress.
Cycling
Cycling is a great way to spend time outdoors and discover new places, either alone or with friends. Cycling is excellent for exercising your leg muscles and improving overall fitness. Remember – before you set off, you have to check your lights and reflectors. Don’t forget to wear a helmet!
Running
Running is a good way to spend time outdoors. You can run almost anywhere. Finding a park, beach or quiet area allows you to enjoy being in nature while getting your exercise. Running is an excellent way to get fit, and is great for boosting your mood too. It is something you can do on your own or with a group.
